Print pants are quite difficult to style, maybe because it’s on the lower part of the body and we are used to drawing focus on the upper part… or maybe because we just tend to wear plain clothing on the lower part. Whatever the case may be, I had tended to shy away from printed pants.
I decided to go for the laid-back loose pants, matching my shoes with the same colour as the pants… It tricks the eyes into creating a merge between both pieces. The upper part of the body, I opt for choosing a piece that still has a scintilla of the colour in the pants. This again is to create a link and not make a stark contrast between both pieces.
THE TRICK IS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU LOOK AS ONE FROM HEAD TO TOE.
Styling with denim, for example, creates a contrast between both pieces and forces a break in the whole look. One half of the body looks different from the other and causes a disjointed look.
